disease before it strikes.
Imagine a world where health systems are built not just to treat illness, but to prevent it entirely. That world is within reach—and the Institute of Preemptology (IoP) is how we get there. We hope to save 60 million lives by 2030 and unlock $1.6 trillion in global productivity. Join us.
Preemptology: A New Architecture for Health
Dr. Abia Nzelu, Co-Founder, Institute of Preemptology (IoP)
Dear Friend, Partner, and Fellow Visionary,
It is indefensible that in the 21st century, no system exists anywhere in the world to train physicians to deliver holistic preventive care. We are founding the Institute of Preemptology (IoP) to finally eliminate this disastrous blind spot.
For over 20 years as a physician, surgeon, and global health steward, I have witnessed the brutal cost of this chasm.
Over the years, I’ve witnessed mothers lose their only children to preventable diseases. Universal Health Coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals hang by a thread. Global health functions like a deadly lottery, where geography or income determines who lives and who dies. This crisis is deeply personal—ten of my family members were lost to cancer in quick succession, including a breastfeeding mother.
The memory of New Year’s Day 2002, while serving at a mission hospital in Oyo State, Nigeria—has never left me. A widow in her forties was rushed to the ER by her frightened daughters, bleeding profusely from terminal cervical cancer—a disease that is 100% preventable. We lacked the infrastructure to save her at this late stage. I reflected on the missed opportunities to screen this woman during previous perinatal visits. The absence of a preemptive health system had failed her. The era of reactive medicine must end.
Our work in Nigeria proves it’s possible. Through our Mobile Health System, we’ve reached underserved communities—using 15-minute cryotherapy to stop cervical cancer before it starts, diagnosing other cancers early, preempting endemic diseases, dispensing free eyeglasses, and delivering essential medical and dental care to those with zero access.
This is the power of Preemptology—a global movement built on decades of innovation, dedicated to early detection and swift action for everyone, everywhere. Through IoP, we are building a system to train 10,000 Preemptologists (one per million people) to scale this proven model globally.
Join us on this once-in-a-generation journey. Together, we can:
- -save 60 million lives
- -eliminate cervical cancer as a public health crisis (WHO goal)
- -unlock $1.6 trillion in global productivity
- -finally make Universal Health Coverage a reality.
The $1.6 Trillion Question: Why Preemptology is an Essential Investment
The global healthSystem is currently defined by reaction, not preemption. This approach is not only morally tragic—leading to the unnecessary loss of 8.6 million lives annually — but it is also economically catastrophic.
The Covid-19 pandemic has exposed the futility of the current reactive health system. When communities and nations are constantly managing late-stage, chronic, and infectious diseases, human potential is capped, and resources are drained. We believe that investing in preemptive health is the most powerful engine for global economic recovery.
The Economic Case: The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that poor-quality care in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) results in a staggering $1.6 trillion in lost economic productivity every year. This is the catastrophic, avoidable cost of our current reactive system.
Our Preemptology model is designed to recapture this lost value. By ensuring timely screenings, early diagnosis (like detecting cervical cancer at curable stages), and on-the-spot treatment, we drastically reduce the burden on acute care systems. This pivot unlocks human potential by minimizing sick days, extending productive lifespans, and freeing nations from unsustainable medical expenditures.
The Humanitarian Mandate: Our successful Mobile Health System model, proven in Nigeria, shows that systematic, scalable, preemptive care breaks the cycle of poverty and disease. Preemptology provides the blueprint for fulfilling Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by ensuring health access is a universal right, not a geographical privilege.
This is more than charity; it is a foundational investment in the future of human capital. Join us in making the world's greatest healthcare opportunity a reality.
Let’s invest in a world where access to care is never a barrier to life.

The Global Health Promise is Broken
Our world is tragically off track. The promise of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is failing, with devastating human and economic costs.
The world doesn't have the right people for the job. Prevention is either delegated to under-supported community health workers or left to overburdened specialists focused on treatment. This needs to change.
NEW SPECIALTY
Our Solution: Preemptology for Global Health
Preemptology is a new system of preventive healthcare designed to detect health problems early and support communities before illness becomes crisis.
We are pioneering Preemptology as an emerging model of preventive healthcare designed to detect and treat problems before they become emergencies. It is not a single course or clinic — it is a new system of care. To turn the idea into practice, the Institute of Preemptology will train the first generation of “Preemptologists” — medical doctors equipped to lead population-scale screening, community coordination and data-driven prevention across defined zones.
Modern medicine has given the world extraordinary tools for healing. But these tools often fail at reaching people in need.
Preemptology will be a new model of healthcare that ensures every person has access to early detection, continuous monitoring, and timely intervention — before illness becomes crisis.
Instead of waiting for people to seek help at the point of emergency, Preemptology will bring quality, technology-enabled healthcare into everyday life through structured, community-based preemptive systems that operate at the level of households, neighbourhoods, and local communities.
We will organise society into zones of approximately one million people, each functioning as a complete preemptive health ecosystem. Every zone will be led by a Preemptologist — a medical doctor with post-MBBS training in proactive health strategy, population-wide screening coordination, and community-based disease preemption. Each Preemptive Health Zone will conduct year-long community outreach programmes to reach everyone in the zone at least once annually.
The Preemptology Model
A New Architecture for Global Health:
How We Will Achieve Universal Health Coverage a Million People at a Time.
LEVEL 1:
THE FIELD MARSHAL
1 PREEMPTOLOGIST
(Accountable for 1 Zone of 1 Million People)
LEVEL 2:
THE COORDINATORS
10 PREEMPTIVE NURSES (PCHNs)
(Each accountable for 100,000 people)
LEVEL 3:
THE FRONTLINE FORCE
1,000 PREEMPTIVE CHEWS (P-CHEWS)
(Each accountable for 1,000 people)
LEVEL 4:
THE COMMUNITY AGENTS
10,000 VOLUNTEERS (PCHAs)
(Each accountable for 100 people)
Every individual having a direct health contact person
Every community screened regularly
Every emerging health concern detected early
No one left to navigate illness alone
This approach shifts healthcare from reactive to preemptive, from hospital-based to community-driven, from crisis response to early intervention.
Preemptology will turn the promise of Universal Health Coverage into a practical, scalable reality — one zone, one community, one household at a time.
Explore the Blueprint for Global Health Transformation
Understanding the Role of Preemptologists in Preemptive Healthcare
A preemptologist is a medical doctor who has undergone rigorous post-MBBS training in comprehensive preventive screenings across all genders, age groups, and medical specialties, grounded in the principles of public health and primary care as well as management and biomedical engineering.
They are the architects of a more efficient and humane approach to healthcare, focused on keeping people healthy, not just treating them when they are ill.
By making quality proactive care accessible and affordable, their work is the key to transforming global health and accelerating the achievement of Universal Health Coverage.

One-Stop Preemptive Care for a Healthier You
Imagine receiving all your essential health screenings in a single, coordinated visit. One Preemptologist will be able to provide you with the comprehensive health overview that would normally require 12 specialists.
This will:
- End Fragmented, Siloed Care: Preemptology replaces today's siloed medical specializations with a comprehensive, "big picture" view of patient health. This unified approach eliminates the "blind men and the elephant" problem of fragmented care, ensuring interventions are coordinated, effective, and truly holistic.
- Maximize Impact by Prioritizing Resources: By providing a comprehensive health overview, this model enables a strategic allocation of resources. It identifies and focuses interventions on the most urgent health needs before they escalate into costly emergencies, dramatically increasing the life-saving impact of every dollar invested.
- Optimize the Entire Healthcare Ecosystem: Preemptology creates system-wide efficiency. By preempting illness, it dramatically reduces the volume of emergency cases, freeing the limited number of curative specialists to focus on the complex, high-acuity patients who truly need them. This alleviates specialist strain and allows the entire system to operate at a higher level.
- Restore Dignity Through Efficient Care: This model replaces months of fragmented, stressful appointments with a single, efficient, and comprehensive health experience. It restores dignity to the patient and removes friction from the system, creating a more respectful and effective pathway to health.
- Build a More Engaged and Sustainable Workforce: Preemptology enriches the medical profession. Instead of performing siloed, repetitive screenings, physicians engage each patient fully. They are trained to identify subtle interconnections, educate patients, and manage unified care. This holistic practice is more intellectually rewarding and directly combats physician burnout, building a more sustainable and effective health workforce.
- Rationalize Manpower to Deliver Higher Value: This model enhances preventive quality while simultaneously driving down costs. By rationalizing manpower—training a single, expert Preemptologist to perform multiple procedures—we eliminate redundant staffing expenses. This establishes Preemptology as a dynamic and highly efficient field, proving that it is possible to achieve superior health outcomes for less.
Economic Impact & Market Opportunity
Preemption is not only medically superior — it is economically transformative. It will:
- Consolidate Expertise to Multiply Impact: One Preemptologist can perform multiple preventive procedures that currently require many specialists. This makes screening affordable to run at scale.
- Remove the Cost Barrier to Advanced Diagnostics: This new specialty will break down the primary economic barrier preventing the widespread adoption of life-saving equipment. While many hospitals and diagnostic centers can afford these devices, they are often hindered by the long-term cost of hiring multiple specialists to operate them. A single Preemptologist, trained to use these devices, makes their operation affordable and sustainable.
- Generate System-Wide Health and Financial Gains: Likewise, life insurers benefit if people live longer and healthier (paying premiums for more years), and the entire health industry wins: nearly everyone will use preventive services, guaranteeing full utilization of health infrastructure rather than only a few needing costly cures.
Reaching Communities, Building Trust, and Preempting Disease Together
The Institute of Preemptology is committed to bringing healthcare directly to the people. Our Preemptologists will lead preemptive outreach teams into urban and rural areas, fostering health literacy and creating a culture of preemption where people live, work, and gather. By doing so, we can end the silent tragedy of the 8.6 million lives needlessly lost each year and ensure that families and communities can thrive.
- Mobile Health Systems: Leveraging technology and proven models for community outreach.
- Building Trust: Fostering strong relationships with local communities.
- Health Literacy: Empowering individuals with knowledge for preemptive care.
A Global Dividend of Health
When we preempt disease at scale, we don’t just save lives; we unleash human potential. Today, over 40 million people die each year from non-communicable diseases like cancer and heart disease. This immense human tragedy is also a catastrophic economic failure, contributing to a global loss of $47 trillion in lost productivity by 2030. Preemptology addresses this crisis at its root.
Preemptology means fewer children orphaned, less children out-of-school, reduced militancy, substance abuse, and poverty, stronger communities, and more resilient economies. It is the foundation for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and creating a future where every person has the chance to live a long, productive, and fulfilling life.
